Creative café · Montmartre, Paris 18th

A creative café in Paris, even if you can't draw.

Yes, it exists: Artichaut is a creative café in Montmartre, at 82 rue Lamarck, in the 18th arrondissement. You settle in with a coffee, pick one of five crafts (watercolour, drawing, lino printing, embroidery or mosaic), and we're with you at your table for 2 hours. No skills needed, materials provided, and it costs €22 to €30 depending on the craft.

How does it work?

01

Pick your craft

Watercolour, drawing, lino printing, embroidery or mosaic, each with its own price. Book your table online, or just walk in, like at a restaurant.

02

The materials are on the table

Brushes, paper, thread, ink, tiles: everything is provided, base piece included. You bring nothing but the urge to make something.

03

We're with you at your table

We explain everything when you arrive, then check in on you throughout the session. Follow a model, pick an idea, or go with your own.

04

You leave with what you made

After 2 hours, your postcard, your embroidered napkin or your pastel poster goes home with you. Even if it's your very first try.

I can't draw. Is that a problem?

Not at all. At Artichaut there's no level required, and most people haven't held a paintbrush since school. In every craft, you can start from a model designed by our artists and make it your own way. Embroidery and mosaic ask for patience more than a steady pencil. And it isn't a class: you go at your own pace, and we come to your table whenever you need us. We grew up in our family's ceramics studios (a sculptor mother, a ceramicist father and brother), and we saw the same thing every time: people mostly come to feel proud of themselves and have a good time. That's the spirit here.
